A 71-year-old woman was hurt in what police describe as an unprovoked attack in Brighton Beach on Friday, when she was suddenly shoved to the pavement in front of a shop on Brighton Beach Avenue. She suffered lacerations, bruising and swelling to her face and knee, along with a jaw injury. EMS took her to NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health, and authorities say she is expected to recover.
As reported by News 12, police say the attacker approached the woman in front of 221 Brighton Beach Ave, shoved her to the ground, then ran off. Investigators told the station the victim did not know her assailant, and officers are now reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses from the busy commercial strip.
