Sneak peek of the nearly-finished Acrisure Amphitheater

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — There was nothing but a tent and an empty lot when project and community leaders gathered in May 2024 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids.

Two years and nearly 350,000 work hours later, and the 12,000-seat amphitheater is almost ready to welcome concertgoers. The venue hosted a media tour Tuesday to give a sneak peek preview as crews worked on the finishing touches, like finishing up the food service areas and putting in the audio-video system.

The fingerprints of some 1,200 construction workers across more than 54 subcontractors are on downtown Grand Rapids’ newest venue, according to Scott Veine with Pioneer Construction, the lead contractor on the project.

“That team that we brought together really — it meant a lot. It’s a different style of project because there’s a lot of camaraderie here and a lot of pride,” he said.
