BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A wrong-way crash on Highway 99 in Delano that killed a 55-year-old man and injured several others is now being linked to suspected alcohol impairment, according to a CHP report detailing the investigation.
The California Highway Patrol said a Tesla driver going the wrong way on Highway 99 caused a multivehicle crash on April 4, 2026. Investigators identified the driver as Jaymar Garcia Alejo of Shafter.
