Plainwell residents assess damage; thousands lose power but no injuries reported

Plainwell, Mich. — Cleanup efforts are underway across Allegan County after strong overnight storms brought heavy rain, powerful winds and widespread damage to parts of West Michigan.

The storms, which moved through the region late Tuesday into early Wednesday, uprooted trees, knocked down power lines and left thousands without electricity.

In Plainwell, residents spent the day surveying damage that ranged from scattered debris to significant impacts on homes.

“Everything being knocked over, there’s trees that fell on the roof and rolled off of it,” said resident Ruby Lynn. “There’s a hole in my brother’s room.”…
