Spokane Valley man accused of causing $2,000 in damages when stealing $25 in fuel, charged with theft and malicious mischief

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said a man reported that another man damaged his work van to steal his gas. Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) identified the suspect as 36-year-old Andrew Kitchens through surveillance footage.

According to an SCSO press release, the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) viewed the footage, which showed Kitchens drill into the gas tank of the work car, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage, and steal $25 worth of gas. The victim notified the Spokane Valley Police Deputies of the alleged crime on April 2.
