Students struggle with rising gas prices amid conflict with Iran

With Washington gas prices spiking to over $5 per gallon this month, some Gonzaga University professors and students are raising concerns about how long drivers in Spokane and across the state will continue to feel the effects of fuel that costs over a dollar more than it did at this time last year.

Over the past month and a half, with the start of the U.S.-Israeli war in Iran, prices of crude oil have risen sharply on the global market. Crude oil is a resource refined into petroleum products such as gasoline and diesel.

GU students are already feeling the effects of the conflict and its economic repercussions. Student Sofia Maciejewski said that as a full-time worker and student, higher gas prices are affecting her day-to-day life and finances…
