Street closures & parking restrictions to be in place during Blue Ridge Marathon Saturday

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Roanoke Police Department is giving a heads up to motorists that the Blue Ridge Marathon will bring street closures and parking restrictions in Roanoke Saturday, April 18, 2026.

The city said the following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking Friday, April 17, 2026:

  • Williamson Rd. from Elm Ave. to Bullitt Ave. (eastside only).
  • Bullitt Ave. from Williamson Rd. to 3rd St.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking on Saturday, April 18, 2026, according police:

  • Jefferson St. from Church Ave. to Elm Ave.
  • Franklin Rd. from Williamson Rd. to 1st St.
  • Bullitt Ave. from Jefferson St. to 1st St.
  • Day Ave from Jefferson St. to 1st St. (southside only).
  • 1st St. from Church Ave. to Bullitt Ave.
  • Luck Ave. from 1st St. to 6th St. (southside only).
  • 6th St. from Luck Ave. to Marshall Ave. (eastside only).
  • Highland Ave. from 5th St. to Franklin Rd. (southside only).
  • Highland Ave. from Franklin Rd. to Jefferson St. (northside only).
  • Walnut Ave. from Belleview Ave. to Sylvan Rd. (southside only).
  • Wiley Dr. from Franklin Rd. to Crystal Spring Ave. (southside only).
  • Rosalind Ave. from Evans Mill Rd. to McClanahan St. (eastside only).
  • Rosalind Ave. from McClanahan St. to 22nd St. (westside only).
  • 22nd St. from Rosalind Ave. to Broadway Ave. (southside only).
  • Broadway Ave. from 22nd St. to Avenham Ave. (southside only).
  • Avenham Ave. from 23rd St. to Clydesdale St. (eastside only).
  • Rosalind Ave. from Cassell Ln. to 27th St. (eastside only).

The following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturday, April 18, 2026, said RPD:

  • Jefferson St. from Church Ave. to Franklin Rd.: 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • Jefferson St. from Franklin Rd. to Elm Ave.: 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Jefferson St. from Elm Ave. to Walnut Ave.: 7:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Franklin Rd. from 2nd St. to Jefferson St.: 5:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Franklin Rd. from Jefferson St. to Williamson Rd.: 5:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • Walnut Ave. from Jefferson St. to JB Fishburn Pkwy.: 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • JB Fishburn Pkwy.: 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (or when last runner clears the road)
  • Mill Mountain Pkwy: 7:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (or when last runner clears the road)
  • Roanoke Mountain Loop Rd.: 7:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Wiley Dr. (next to Rivers Edge Sports Complex): 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Luck Ave. from 6th St. to 1st St. (eastbound lanes only): 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Bullitt Ave. from 1st St. to Jefferson St. (eastbound lanes only): 5:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Elm Ave. from 1st St. to Williamson Rd. (eastbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
  • Laurel St. from Riverland Rd. to Walnut Ave. (southbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Ivy St. from Camilla St. to Walnut Ave. (northbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Camilla St. from Ivy St. to Sylvan Ave. (Eastbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Peakwood Dr. (uphill lane only): 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • West Ridge Rd. from Peakwood Dr. to Rosalind Ave. (downhill lane only): 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Cars will be allowed to travel UP West Ridge/Rosalind and DOWN Peakwood.
  • West Ridge from Peakwood to the top will be open.
  • Alleys between Elm Ave. and Luck Ave.: 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Laurel St. from Camilla to Walnut (northbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • Ivy St. from Riverland Rd. to Walnut Ave. (southbound lanes only): 7:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Access on Saturday, April 18, 2026:

  • To access Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital’s emergency department from 581:
  • take the Wonju exit to Broadway
  • turn right on McClanahan and turn left on Jefferson
  • it’ll take you to the main hospital entrance.

RPD says Carilion Roanoke Memorial’s Terrace View parking garage will remain open and accessible during the event via a temporary two-way opening on Belleview Ave. The Walnut Avenue entrance will be closed. Flaggers will be onsite to guide traffic.

RPD also says emergency vehicles will be rerouted otherwise. In the rare instance that an ambulance arrives via Piedmont, it will be directed to the hospital via Belleview.
