Reidsville child saves family dog from house fire: ‘Extremely proud of him’

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The quick actions of a 10-year-old boy saved his family dog from a house fire in Reidsville.

According to the Reidsville Fire Department, crews responded to a fire on the 700 block of Piedmont Street on Wednesday night.

‘My Heart Dropped’

The homeowner, Ayana Watlington, says a candle is what led to a devastating fire that ripped through her home.

“I made the mistake of setting my candle by my bamboo plant, and it ignited because my walls are wood … That particular day, I had decided to go to the YMCA and go swimming with my kids, and I sent my son to go inside to get my swimsuit,” Watlingon said…
