Cleveland City Council member Richard Starr has stars in his eyes regarding the “weed windfall” now headed annually to Cleveland as its local share of marijuana dispensary taxes. Starr wants to add marijuana revenues to the Cleveland casino money that already gets partially parceled out as councilmember slush funds.
In 2025, the city received $650,000 in weed money, cleveland.com’s Sean McDonnell reports.
So, Starr reasons, why not give council half of that going forward? Kind of like council’s existing 15% slush-fund cut of Cleveland’s casino revenues — only a much bigger slice. Half of the city’s weed windfall would have worked out to more than $21,000 for each council member last year…
