Woman found guilty of fatally shooting 60-year-old community activist

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was convicted on Monday of shooting a Whitehaven community activist to death back in 2022, according to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.

Tifanee Wright, 37, was found guilty of second-degree murder in a jury trial.

On August 13, 2022, 60-year-old Dr. Yvonne Nelson was shot and killed on Yale Road.

Dr. Nelson, a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College who received her doctorate from Capella University, was a philanthropist to the Memphis community for over 30 years…
