SAN DIEGO — Months after her kidney transplant, a San Diego healthcare worker has returned to work, now connected to a co-worker through a shared kidney donation.
As a transplant assistant at the Sharp Kidney Transplant Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital, Ruthie Duroseau guides patients with chronic kidney disease through the complex journey of receiving a kidney transplant and getting them on the transplant list– a work she has done long before she ever knew she would need a transplant of her own.
Duroseau waited 3.5 years before receiving a kidney transplant in 2012. After living with the kidney for about a decade, she began experiencing declining health in recent years.
