San Diego finishes upgrades to Ruffin Canyon trail

(FOX 5/KUSI) — Improvements to a trail along San Diego’s Ruffin Canyon have been completed, providing better access to yet another of the city’s urban canyons and helping connect two of the city’s neighborhoods.

On Friday, city leaders and park rangers celebrated the improvements, which include the relocation of some trails, the restoration of some wetlands, and the addition of several pedestrian footbridges that help connect Serra Mesa and Mission Valley.

Along with the upgrades, a new trailhead was opened at the edge of the Escala private community, north of Friars Road and Fenton Parkway.
