Working Iowa: Kirkwood survey finds hiring difficulties across region

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Kirkwood Community College released its Skills 2027 Report, showing that hiring difficulties continue across its seven-county service region, with employers seeking workers with foundational skills.

The survey, conducted every three years since 2000, drew responses from employers across industries, geographic areas and company sizes. Quinn Pettifer, director of corporate training at Kirkwood Community College, said the findings show consistent themes regardless of business type or location.

“There are continuing to be hiring difficulties throughout the region,” Pettifer said. “And that is current, but anticipated over the next three years.”
