NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A New Orleans man is facing multiple charges surrounding an investigation into child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation reported receiving a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited children, claiming 32-year-old Justin Michael Smith was in contact with a 14-year-old victim.
The investigation revealed Smith allegedly asked the victim to produce and send him CSAM in exchange for payment.
Smith was arrested at his St. Anthony Avenue home, and during a post Miranda interview, agents said he admitted to searching for and watching child sexual abuse material and to communicating with the teen.

Through the help of the Orleans Metro ICAC Task Force, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Kenner Police Department, New Orleans Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit, Smith was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on:
- Eight counts of Child Sexual abuse material under the age of thirteen (Possession)
- One count of Child Sexual Abuse Material (Production)
- One count of Indecent Behavior with Juveniles
- One count of Computer aided solicitation of a minor
