That day represents not just a medical milestone, but a life-changing moment made possible by the generosity of a stranger.
When I was going through the process of getting registered on the transplant waiting list, Dr. Larry Burris — who is now retired but was my transplant physician at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD — gave me some blunt but valuable advice. He encouraged me to dual list in Omaha.
