Pilot reported ‘turbocharger problem’ before fatal Tahoe-area crash, NTSB says

Federal investigators say the pilot who died after his plane crashed near Lake Tahoe in March reported a “turbocharger problem” as he approached Truckee Tahoe Airport, according to a preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The crash happened about 5:16 p.m. March 22 near Olympic Valley, according to the report.

According to investigators, the small plane — a Beech A36 registered as N2882W — departed Monterey Regional Airport at 2:11 p.m. and was headed to Truckee Tahoe Airport…
