COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Charles Patten is a Captain with the Columbia Fire Department who has served his community for over 18 years.
In early 2025, his wife, Melody (known by close friends and family as Mel), was diagnosed with leukemia and went through the trials and tribulations of chemotherapy.
She was strong through the process and was initially thought to have beaten the illness, but unfortunately, the cancer was not yet in remission…
