Zoo supporters allege county bullied them for $1M to help pay for Harborview Aquarium

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — In an Onondaga County Legislative hearing on Tuesday, the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo accused County Executive Ryan McMahon of trying to pry $1 million from them.

The Friends of the Zoo said that money was to go to the recently named Harborview Aquarium in Syracuse’s Inner Harbor. The project, which has been controversial since its conception, costs around $103.8 million.
