Evansville man arrested after shootout at apartment complex early Wednesday morning

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A suspect faces multiple felony charges following an early-morning shootout Wednesday at an apartment complex on the city’s north side.

20-year-old Michael Dortch was arrested after Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of Norma Drive around 1:20 a.m.. Dortch is charged with two counts of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal mischief, and one count of theft or possession of a stolen firearm.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a witness reported hearing four gunshots and seeing a man in a black hooded sweatshirt and pajama pants looking around the ground before walking between buildings.
