SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) – The Salem Ridgeyaks didn’t start fast, but they sure made the middle innings count.
Salem (9-7) couldn’t push a run across in the first two innings, but neither could Fredericksburg (10-6), thanks to Ridgeyaks starter Leighton Finley (W, 1-0, 1.98 ERA), who delivered another strong performance in just his third start, going 5 innings, allowing four hits and just one run.
The Ridgeyaks finally got things going in the bottom 3rd, thanks to the 4-5-6 hitters in the lineup. Skylar King got a ground ball through to right field for a single, plating D’Angelo Ortiz and Starlyn Nunez for a 2-0 lead. Andrews Opata followed up with an RBI double to make it 3-0, and later scored on Kleyver Salazar’s RBI single to increase the lead to 4-0…
