Planned outage to cut power to parts of Haywood County on Wednesday night

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — More than 3,000 customers in Haywood County are expected to lose power for about two hours during a planned outage scheduled for 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The outage will affect areas in Jonathan Creek and Maggie Valley as officials work to replace faulty equipment. Mitch Bearden, chief communications officer for Haywood EMC, said the outage is “just routine maintenance.”

“There’s never an ideal time for a planned outage, but we chose 10 p.m. tonight on April 22 because it’s the time that will cause the least amount of disruption for homeowners, as well as business owners,” he said…
