Cincinnati ‘flute thief’ heads back to court for not paying back over $70K to victims

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Nearly five years after pleading guilty to taking high-end musical instruments under the pretense of repairing them, a Tri-State woman is headed back to court accused of failing to repay her victims.

Patricia North pleaded guilty in August 2021 in Hamilton County to unauthorized use of property. Three counts of theft were dismissed as part of the case. North was sentenced to five years probation and agreed to pay back nearly $80,000 in restitution.

Local 12 first reported complaints about North in 2019. Victims said North agreed to repair instruments, including flutes and others, but the instruments instead went missing. Prosecutors alleged North sold or pawned the instruments at pawn shops and other outlets.
