Defense for Bryan Castillo disputes speed, shares new details in crash that killed Deputy Kaleb Mitchell

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — New details are emerging in the case involving the death of Forsyth County Deputy Kaleb Mitchell, as prosecutors drop major charges against 19-year-old Bryan Castillo and his attorney speaks out publicly for the first time.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of March 7 near Highway 311 and Grubbs Road in Walnut Cove.

DA: New evidence changes case

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill announced that several charges against Castillo have been dismissed following new findings from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
