Surfer taken in critical condition after being found unresponsive in Waikiki

HONOLULU (Island News) – Honolulu Ocean Safety Department (HOSD) rescued an unresponsive surfer that was reported in Waikiki.

The incident happened at approximately 10:19 a.m. on Wednesday morning when lifeguards responded to a surfer who was located about 100 yards offshore at the surf break known as “Canoes” in Waikiki.

Lifeguards from Tower 2B immediately paddled out to the man, quickly securing and taking him to shore. When HOSD arrived at the scene, CPR was initiated until the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and took over his care…
