North Tonawanda man gets 16 years in prison for deadly 2021 Buffalo shooting

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — A North Tonawanda man will spend 16 years in prison in connection with the deadly shooting of a 19-year-old man in Buffalo back in 2021.

Moteiff J. Wafer-Collins, 21, was sentenced Wednesday morning after being denied youthful offender adjudication, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to serve five years of post-release supervision.

Prosecutors said the shooting happened around 1 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2021, on the 100 block of Laird Avenue in the City of Buffalo. They said Wafer-Collins, who was 16 at the time, shot 19-year-old Donovan M. Miller with an illegal gun…
