Man whose son ambushed police will spend weekends in jail for having illegal assault rifle

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A man whose son ambushed two members of law enforcement two years ago will spend weekends in jail for possessing an illegal assault rifle.

At a court appearance on Thursday, 63-year-old Joseph Murphy pleaded guilty to a single weapons possession charge for a rifle not compliant with New York State law.
