Puppy stolen from the Austin Humane Society finds new home

AUSTIN, Texas — Chico, the puppy stolen from the Austin Humane Society earlier this month and returned with a handwritten apology note, has been adopted and is thriving in his new home, the shelter said.

Now named Rusty, the black and brown wire-haired terrier mix has settled in with his new family, where he sleeps on his owner’s daughter’s pillow and enjoys “zooming around the house with his floppy paws.” He is also learning to fetch, though “he sometimes forgets to bring the ball back.”

“We’re excited about this happy ending and that Rusty found a loving home and is living his best life,” the Austin Humane Society said…
