SUMMERFIELD, N.C. — Two former Summerfield officials have been cleared of criminal charges following accusations of fraud, embezzlement and racketeering after they left in 2024.
Former Summerfield Town Manager Scott Whitaker and former Finance Officer Dee Hall were investigated after the entire town of Summerfield’s staff resigned two years ago. They cited mistreatment of the former town manager. Accusations of fraud and embezzlement from the town’s city council came after an audit that raised concerns.
