North Alabama’s Project Unify aids Oklahoma tornado recovery efforts

TRINITY, Ala — A North Alabama relief organization is mobilizing to help communities in Oklahoma recover from a devastating outbreak of tornadoes that struck the region Thursday, damaging homes and businesses.

Project Unify, based in Trinity in Morgan County, has been responding to disasters across the country since 2018. The organization already has an established network of volunteers in Oklahoma, where it operates a camp, and those members are on the ground in Enid and surrounding areas helping with cleanup and recovery efforts in the wake of the storms.

Alabama-based members of the group are preparing to travel to Oklahoma but are holding off on departing until the threat of additional severe weather in the Tennessee Valley passes, which is expected by Monday…
