SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Utah Division of Licensing and Background Checks has terminated the license of Safe and Sound Services after three disabled men died from carbon monoxide poisoning under the care of one of their employees.
Safe and Sound Services, LLC, is a local company that works with disabled individuals in the State system, running a day program where caregivers take clients out on various outings for part of the day. Isaiah Pulu was employed as a caregiver with Safe and Sound Services,
On February 6, 2026, Pulu was assigned to take care of three men with Safe and Sound Services. He allegedly took them to his residence in West Valley City and left them in a running vehicle while he went inside his apartment. According to court documents, Pulu made lunch and watched television for between one and three hours.
