As gas prices surge in New York state and across the nation, drivers are taking major hits. The national gas price average has reached over $4/gallon, according to AAA. In New York, customers are paying an average of $4.128/gallon. These prices are up almost a dollar from this time last year.
The price surge has created hardship for many drivers, particularly delivery drivers. Anthony DeFrank, who is a DoorDash driver in the Syracuse area, said the higher prices have been affecting how many DoorDash orders he’s able to complete.
“I’ve definitely felt the increase,” DeFrank said. “With gas prices recently, I haven’t been able to [drive] because it’s been ridiculous.”…
