Urgent care chain closes 5 clinics, citing lack of demand

ST. LOUIS — Five new locations of an urgent care chain have closed after failing to attract enough patients, and the company says reopening them is unlikely.

Total Access Urgent Care, which before the closures operated 31 clinics throughout the region in Missouri and Illinois, has closed five of its newest locations, according to its website. Three of the locations that closed were opened less than a year ago, in University City, Webster Groves and Kirkwood. Two of the now-shuttered locations opened less than two years ago, in Chesterfield and Ellisville.

The chain, the largest urgent care operator in St. Louis, opened the locations because it saw demand in those areas, but all five struggled to attract customers, said Kelly Baynes, senior vice president of operations at Urgent Care Group, TAUC’s parent company…
