Community, first responders turn out for Caldwell boy’s birthday celebration

CALDWELL, Idaho — A big community turnout, including local first responders, helped celebrate a Caldwell boy’s sixth birthday with a parade Saturday.

Levi recently returned home after he received a bone marrow transplant. He has acute myeloid leukemia and remains immunocompromised, according to a social media post from his mother, Ashlie Hillius. Because of his fragile immune system, he was unable to have a traditional birthday party.

Ashlie organized what she described as a “last-minute” idea to make the day special, inviting community members to drive by their home to honk, wave and share birthday wishes…
