Person robbed on Bourbon Street by suspect posing as rideshare driver, New Orleans police say

A person was robbed at gunpoint overnight Sunday in the French Quarter by a suspect posing as a rideshare driver, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The crime was reported in the 200 block of Bourbon Street at around 12:48 a.m. The victim requested a Lyft and was waiting at the pickup spot when a driver in a dark-colored sedan approached him, police said.

The driver asked if the victim was waiting for a ride, and the victim got into the car. Police said the pair drove for about a minute before the suspect took out a pistol and demanded the victim’s belongings. The victim handed over his phone and wallet…
