NEW ORLEANS — Mayor Helena Moreno responded to a series of WWL-TV investigative reports on design and construction problems with the New Orleans Police Department’s 4-year-old crime lab Tuesday by confirming she is engaging the City Attorney to identify legal ways to recoup some of the money the city is spending to repair it.
New Orleans spent $25 million in federal funds to build a brand new lab in 2022. Four years later, it is spending $9 million more to renovate it.
