Boy, 17, turns himself in days after two other teens shot in parked car in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A 17-year-old boy is facing attempted murder charges in connection to a shooting that injured two other teenagers earlier this month, according to the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD).

A 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man were shot while they were sitting inside a parked car in the area of McKinley Avenue North and Capital Avenue NE on the morning of April 19, police said.

The two were taken to a hospital and are reportedly in stable condition. Police did not make any arrests that day and determined the shooting was isolated with no ongoing threat to the public.

Following several interviews, investigators said a 17-year-old boy — accompanied by his mother — voluntarily turned himself in to BCPD on April 23. He was then taken to the Calhoun County Juvenile Home where he is facing two counts of attempted murder and two counts of felony firearm charges, according to police…
