Kalamazoo Public Safety responding to multiple weather-related incidents following high wings

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) said they are actively responding to multiple weather-related incidents Monday afternoon after high winds knocked down trees and power lines across the region.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 4:32 p.m. for Kalamazoo County that lasts through 5:30 p.m. The warning says wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible.

KDPS said they are currently working at least two scenes involving trees on homes with reported victims inside. The public safety department said that other scenes have power and gas lines impacted, creating hazards for first responders and the public…
