‘Built for our neighbors’: New solar farm goes live in Maryville, feeding power into local grid

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Another solar farm is complete in Maryville, promising to bring clean, renewable energy to the community.

A crew of 18 community members built a 1.8-megawatt solar array in Maryville in just six months, according to a press release. The company added that the array was energized in December, with the contractor now completing testing. The installation on Mint Road will feed energy into the Maryville Electric Department’s grid.

“This project means a lot to us because it’s right here in our backyard,” said Edward Rottmann, Chief Executive Officer of Chroma Energy Group. “We live and work in East Tennessee, and we take pride in building projects that support the communities we call home.”…
