Family remembers hit-and-run victim Gregory Schefield; new technology led to arrest of suspect

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Last week, the city of Roanoke gave the police department the green light to install gunshot detection devices, part of the city’s push to use new technology to solve crimes and keep people safe.

A different technology was used to help the department identify the suspect in a hit-and-run on Orange Avenue that involved a moped driver.

The Roanoke Police Department used Flock technology to locate and arrest Brian Angelo Campbell just a few hours after Gregory Schefield was killed.
