The Barn Door Restaurant & Meat Market has been searing steaks in the San Antonio area since 1953, serving up countless meals for generations of customers. All that is set to wrap in the coming weeks, as The Barn Door prepares to close its doors, ending its 73-year journey as one of the oldest steakhouses in San Antonio.
The long-running restaurant shared the news with MySA ahead of its public announcement on Monday, April 27. The Barn Door will continue to run service through Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, when the steakhouse will host its final service from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“This is not an easy decision,” Randy Stokes said in a news release. “The Barn Door has always been more than a restaurant. It has been a place where San Antonio gathered, celebrated milestones, and created lasting memories.”
The Barn Door will switch to a reservation-only service model starting on May 1, with operating hours running from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Those reservations can be made using the steakhouse’s website…
