RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A tense and at times chaotic night unfolded inside Riviera Beach City Hall as commissioners took a major step toward ousting City Manager Jonathan Evans — then immediately clashed over how to do it.
In a decisive move Monday night, the Riviera Beach City Council voted to put Evans on notice that his contract will not be renewed when it expires July 13. Council members were initially set to discuss three potential paths for Evans’ future with the city: retaining him through the end of his contract, negotiating an early separation, or allowing the agreement to expire without renewal in July.
Because of the growing tension and length of discussion, commissioners voted to extend the meeting until the full agenda could be completed, stretching the proceedings late into the night…
