SCHODACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schodack Police Department released the findings of their most recent speed and traffic survey on Tuesday. The new report was conducted on Brookview Road between Schuurman and Schodack Valley Roads.

The survey, which was administered upon receiving resident complaints of speeding in the area, ran from noon on April 6 through 4 a.m. on April 15. Data from the report determined that of the 19,658 cars that passed through the vicinity, 66.83% of drivers traveled moderately above the posted 40 mph limit, at speeds between 40.1 mph and 49.9 mph.
The report found that 2,740 motorists (13.94%) were recorded going beyond the excessive speed threshold of 50 mph, with one driver hitting 120 mph in the 40 mph zone. Only 19.23% of cars were documented as traveling below the road’s speed limit.

The average speed of all drivers overall was 44.15 mph, while the average speed of violations was only slightly higher at 46.17 mph. The lowest registered speed during the survey was 6 mph.
Data also showed that the busiest speeding hours were between 7 and 9 a.m., and between 4 and 6 p.m. Schodack Police said that officers will be thoroughly reviewing traffic in the area during those times in the coming weeks…
