Three-month -old becomes first patient to receive life-changing brain surgery in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Three-month-old Moses became the first patient to undergo a specialized neurosurgery procedure at TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital.

Moses was born with craniosynostosis, a condition which affects the shape of his skull. An endoscopic strip craniectomy, a minimally invasive procedure, was performed by pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Jonathan Scoville, to correct craniosynostosis and allow Moses’ brain to grow and develop properly.

Dr. Scoville is a part of the hospital’s new pediatric neurosurgery program, and marked a milestone in the hospital’s pediatric care, which was launched to expand access to advanced care for children and surgical options for complex neurological conditions in Tennessee…
