Man arrested in Chihuahua for impersonating immigration agent

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Authorities have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of impersonating a federal immigration official, according to a statement released by the State Attorney General’s Office.

Agents from the State Investigation Agency, assigned to the Northwest District Prosecutor’s Office, detained the suspect identified as Omar O. P., in the act on charges of unlawful assumption of public functions.

The arrest took place at the intersection of Victoria Alley and Jesus Urueta Street in the downtown area of Nuevo Casas Grandes, which is about 150 miles from Ciudad Juarez.

Officials said the suspect was found improperly using official logos of the National Migration Institute, as well as equipment typically reserved for law enforcement personnel.
