The Citizens of Granite City have Spoken Against Proposed Data Center

Before the city council meeting could start, the succinct township meeting  that precedes with full quorum began. Alderman Burton, who’s over the Finance committee made a motion to pay the bills.  The bill list from the town fund was paid to the tune of $44,498.78. General Assistance was $20,129.04. After that, the city council meeting for April 21 officially began: For the Presentation of Communications, There was a request from Pavia’s Place, located at 2265 Madison Avenue, to close 23rd street from Madison to Grand on Saturday, May 16, from noon to 7 PM to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. With the acknowledgement of them submitting the proper insurance forms to the office the request was approved. Next, Cool Cities Community present the Board with a sign and a flag for Arbor Day and plans to have it hung within the Granite City park system. Alderman McDowel set a motion to place the plan commission advisory report from the planning meeting on April the 2, 2026 to be placed on file.
