Hours of tense police activity in a Northglenn neighborhood east of I-25 ended Tuesday afternoon with a suspect in custody and a shelter-in-place order lifted. Officers had asked nearby residents to stay inside while they tried to reach a person inside a home. Police later said the scene was secure after alerts rippled through parts of the city via CodeRED, and several nearby schools shifted into secure-perimeter status.

According to FOX31 Denver, the Northglenn Police Department first posted on X that officers were responding to an “incident,” then updated around 4:25 p.m. that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted after a suspect was taken into custody. SkyFOX aerial video showed a man standing on a roof while law enforcement staged below, with activity centered in the area of 114th Avenue and High Street. FOX31 reported that Stem Lab, Hulstrom K-8, and Malley Drive Elementary were all placed on secure perimeters while officers worked the scene.

Denver7 reported that officers were trying to make contact with a person inside a home, and later said the scene was secure. AirTracker7 video showed a heavy law enforcement presence near Gaylord Street and Claude Court. At the time of those reports, officials had not released the suspect’s name or any potential charges.
