CLEVELAND (WJW) — Gas prices in Ohio jumped again overnight, rising above the national average. Many stations across Northeast Ohio are now nearing $5 per gallon.
On Thursday morning, the national average for gas went up to $4.30 per gallon. In Ohio, we are above the national average at $4.46 per gallon. That is 24 cents higher than Wednesday and the third day in a row we have seen a jump in our state.

FOX 8 News crews drove past many gas stations that already hit the $4.99 mark by Thursday morning in Northeast Ohio.
But GasBuddy.com users on Thursday said they spotted several Northeast Ohio locations where the price was much lower:
- $3.78 per gallon: Sheetz, 8480 Willow Road, Burbank
- $3.79 per gallon: Gas USA, 15317 Euclid Ave., East Cleveland
- $3.89 per gallon: Sam’s Club, 5225 Cobblestone Road, Sheffield Village
- $3.95 per gallon: Exxon, 4707 Clark Ave., Cleveland
- $3.99 per gallon: BJ’s, 38292 Colorado Ave., Avon
- $3.99 per gallon: Costco, 35804 Detroit Road, Avon
The increase is being blamed on the war in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz shutdown, as well as refinery problems in the Midwest. That’s according to Patrick Dehaan with GasBuddy.com…
