What started as a car blocking a neighborhood street in Antioch ended with spike strips, a police K-9, and a 27-year-old suspect tracked down in the woods on Monday, according to investigators.
Court documents say officers were called after several residents reported that a black Dodge Charger was blocking the road near Artelia Drive and Dowdy Drive and that the driver was pointing a gun at people in the area. When police arrived, they say they found a man inside the Charger with a white T-shirt pulled over his face and a handgun on display. The license plate on the car came back registered to a Ford Fusion, not the Dodge, according to those records.
Detectives tried to pull the driver over, but the Charger took off, triggering a short pursuit. Officers deployed spike strips, which disabled the vehicle, police say.
