Residents push back on proposal to reimagine historic Woodlawn Cemetery

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A proposal to transform a historic West Palm Beach cemetery into a mixed-use park is drawing strong reactions from residents, particularly those with loved ones buried there.

Woodlawn Cemetery, located along South Dixie Highway just south of downtown, has stood for nearly a century. The city-owned property spans roughly 18 acres and serves as the final resting place for more than 12,000 people, with some burials dating back to the 1920s.
