Scattered storms today with severe risk, severe storm watch west of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Clouds are starting to break for some areas of sun which will begin to heat up temperatures. Meanwhile, areas of sun are in the Hill Country west to Val Verde County. A weak front is hung up in this area while a disturbance approaches from Mexico. The ingredients are in place for some storms to develop later today into this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has increased to a level 3 of 5 risk for severe storms in the western half of our area. The concern, storms with giant hail pushing 3″ diameter or larger! Of note, this does not mean everyone sees storms. But where we do see storms develop, they’ll need to be carefully tracked as they’ll have a risk of damaging hail & strong winds.
